I am Nicholas Rowe, manager of Rockwood Park Apartments in Salem, Oregon. I am writing in support of Waste Recovery Systems which has been taking care of our dumpster areas for just over a year now. They provide an invaluable service to the community as they help keep down the amount of waste going to our landfills by removing the recyclables from our dumpster and keeping our dumpster areas cleaned on a daily basis. This service keeps us from overloading our dumpsters and also keeps our dumpster areas clean and safe for our residents.

This service has also been helpful in that it has freed up our time so that we can take care of more pressing matters. Before WRS started to care for our dumpsters we were spending an hour and a half daily doing exactly what they were doing. Also it has had an effect on our residents as well. We have a recycling area provided for our tenants in the center of our complex but as we all know most people look for the easiest way to do anything and recycling takes effort. But instead of walking halfway across the complex to recycle our tenants just threw everything away. Now they will set their recyclable items beside the dumpster because they know that they will be picked up and dealt with properly.

WRS has also made it easier on us as managers by taking away appliances and water heaters that are usually just put into the truck by the garbage haulers and taken to the dump. These items are taken to the proper facilities for reuse or recycling where as before they just ended up in the landfill.

These gentlemen have offered us a viable option that decreases our waste in a professional and effiecient manner and in time this will help make it easier for us all to do the right thing. They have made it convenient for us to recycle which in the long run, will prove to be a major benefit to everyone now and in the future.
