March 17, 2005,
I am writing on behalf of Jim Hoover and Waste Recovery Systems whose company has been servicing my 120-unit apartment community in Beaverton, Oregon since November 2003. I find the service he provides to my apartment community and residents invaluable. The residents and I have come to appreciate his services immensely.
On average only about 20% of residents recycle and of those 20%, only about 5% recycle properly. Therefore, most recyclable materials end up going into landfills. Many times during move-outs, residents leave behind large items such as mattresses, furniture, and the like. If these items are just picked up and thrown away then tangible items that others can use are discarded.
Additionally, and just as importantly, if I did not have a company such as WRS servicing my property, I would have higher rate of "dumpster diving" by vagrants as well as residents. The safety of an owner's property is of utmost importance.
In short, I believe that recycling is an absolute necessity in the fragile environment in which we all live. I hope that we will all have ample resources to live for our generation and that we may leave a non-polluted and environmentally enhanced planet for future generations.
Sincerely,
Avin Marr
